Each piece in our atelier begins not with a brief, but with a question — what should this object be in ten years? Twenty?

— Craft philosophy
We have never made a seasonal piece. Every object that leaves our atelier is designed to be worn for twenty years and inherited thereafter. We work with three ateliers — Florence, Milan, and Lyon — each a three-generation family practice with no interest in volume.
A pair of our shoes takes eleven days to construct. A bag, fourteen. We refuse to accelerate this. The hands that make them have spent decades learning how not to rush.
— The Atelier
Larch began in a single room in Florence in 1987. Not as a brand, but as a workshop. Our founder, a shoemaker of thirty years, had one instruction to his apprentices: make it last.
We source three grades of hide. One is sold. The top two percent — the quietest grain, the most consistent pull — goes into our pieces. The selection takes longer than most houses spend on design.
We make commissions for twelve clients per season — no more. Each begins with a conversation about how you live and what you need the object to do. Then we disappear for eleven days.
